About this class
This year-long class will focus on using software to help with the creation of
sound/music and
visual art.
Sound/MusicWe will primarily be using the application called Ableton LE.
Using this software, you will learn how to:
- record using microphones
- record using digital instruments like keyboards and drum pads
- use Live as an instrument to trigger sounds
- use Live's effects for Live performance
- compose and produce your own music
- use loops, create loops
- use samples
- use MIDI
- Remix a song
- use Live as a DJ tool
- synthesize your own sounds
Visual ArtWe will be using two applications primarily:
Xara for drawing and
Photoshop for painting. Using this software you will learn how to:
- work with vector and raster graphics
- draw scalable graphics
- paint and modify pixel-based graphics
- combine vector and raster graphics
- manipulate and touch up photographs
Expectations:Class expectations follow those in the student handbook. Familiarize yourself with them.
You will need a USB drive to store files.
You will be given freedom to work on projects of your choosing.
You will be graded on:
- the quality of these finished projects (skills)
- having necessary items for class and handing work in on time (responsibility)
- your attitude and behavior in class (conduct)
