Responsibility

Student at CMS are expected to turn in assigned work in a timely and thorough manner and arrive to classes on time. Learning to do so is an important step in the development of the levels of independence and responsibility we hope to foster in all of our students.

 

The following grading scale will be used by all middle school teachers in assessing responsibility.

 

Assignment is Submitted on Time

A   Student has submitted the required assignment on or before the established deadline, all parts of the assignment are completed in a thorough manner, and the work is presented in a neat and organized from

B    Student has submitted the required assignment on or before the established deadline, all parts of the assignment are completed in a thorough manner, and the work is presented in a reasonably neat and organized form.

C    The assignment meets either of the following two criteria:

·               The assignment is submitted on time, is neat and organized, but is missing a few components.

·               The assignment is on time and complete but is below standard in terms of neatness and organization

 

Assignment is Submitted Late or on Time

D   The assignment meets either of the following two criteria:

·               Assignment is submitted sometime within one cycle of the due date and is neat, organized and complete

·               Assignment is submitted on time but is very incomplete and reflects a low standard of neatness and organization.

F    The assignment meets either of the following two criteria:

·               Assignment is submitted sometime within one cycle of the due date but is incomplete, not well organized or neat

·               Assignment is submitted on time but student has completed only a small portion of the assignment and/or the assignment is very poor in terms of neatness and organization

       0   Assignment not submitted within 7 school days of due date

 

Students who maintain an average below 70% for responsibility in their core subjects will be placed on academic probation.

 

Tardiness – A grade for punctuality will be entered for each class once/quarter. Teachers will assign a point value for this grade equal to roughly 20% of the responsibility grade. The following scale is used to determine grades for punctuality each quarter
